Meet the team: Ben Davies01.04.2015
At HRW our strength is our people. We value our multi-disciplinary team and all the fun and interesting people that make our company so successful. In case you didn’t realise how delightful our people are, we’re taking the opportunity to highlight a few of our delightful team members around the globe, continuing with Research Executive Ben Davies:
Q: What’s your back story?
Ben Davies: I have been at HRW for just over one year now. I started as Trainee Research Executive in March 2014 and have since progressed to the position of Research Executive. I am mostly based in Wallingford
Q: What did you study at university?
BD: I studied Sport and Exercise Sciences at the University of Exeter. In my final year I specialised in exercise prescription and behavioural psychology. It was this exposure to the benefits of exercise as a prescription treatment and prevention for a range of diseases and the theories behind behaviour change that really ignited an interest and passion for healthcare and in particular understanding the drivers behind health-related behaviours.
Q: What is your favourite part of the project process?
BD: I love the analysis stage. I love taking a problem or a research question and deep diving into the analysis to find the valuable insights from our customers. I can then take these insights into very interactive and collaborative analysis meetings where everyone works together to bring together the overall story and key insights. It is very satisfying to work together to identify an engaging story and key insights that can ultimately support our clients’ business needs.
Q: Tell me about a project that really interested you.
BD: Our Google Glass research with physicians and patients! I am definitely an early adopter of new technology and loved the opportunity to be involved in such innovative research using some very exciting technology. The outputs from the Google Glass were really engaging and due to the first person nature of the recordings you really felt as you were seeing the world through a doctor or patient’s eyes. It was a truly fascinating insight into the lives of our customers and also what future technology may hold for health and market research!
Q: What do you like most about working at HRW?
BD: I love that no two days are the same! We work on such a large variety of projects with different methodologies in a range of therapy areas so it is a really dynamic and exciting place to work. I also really enjoy learning about new therapy areas from the perspective of both the patient and the healthcare professional. This gives me a very eye-opening and compassionate insight into the reality of treating, managing and living with a range of conditions.
