March was Ovarian Cancer awareness month, and to raise awareness and funds for the cause, HRW’s UK offices formed a team of knitters to create knitted chicks that fit over a Cadbury’s Creme Egg that were auctioned to the rest of the HRW team.

We had a team effort this year: with knitting done by Ella Heath, Georgia Marshall, Kirsty Page, Alicia Gurner, Viv Gaulter-Carter, and Elizabeth Openshaw.

They made a total of 90 chicks and have raised £377 for target ovarian cancer. The campaign was launched in March to coincide with ovarian cancer awareness month and finished four weeks later in time for people to enjoy their creme eggs for the long Easter weekend!

£350 will pay for 200 people to learn about the symptoms of ovarian cancer by receiving a symptoms leaflet to help with early diagnosis and 600 GPs to update their knowledge and best practise for early diagnosis.

This latest campaign means HRW, led by our knitting extraordinaire Ella Heath, have raised over £1000 through knitting and crochet projects in the last two years which is a very exciting milestone to have reached!
