On a warm June day, Caroline Jameson, Jo McDonald, Cathy Haw, and Katy Irving travelled from the UK to Switzerland for the EphMRA Conference, where they were reunited with local colleague Fenna Gloggner. Held at the Basel Congress Centre, the annual conference brought together healthcare market research professionals to explore topics including patient research, artificial intelligence, big data, analytics, behavioural science, GDPR, and digital transformation. The event provided valuable opportunities to share ideas, learn from industry leaders, and connect with peers and clients from across the sector. Celebrating Success at the EphMRA Conference Basel This year, our team had many reasons to celebrate: -Fenna completed her first year on the Associate Members Board of EphMRA. -Katy chaired two sessions on analytics and behavioural science as a member of the programme committee. -Cathy, alongside Dennis Engelke of Jazz Pharma, accepted the trophy and presented a case study from their award-winning project*, Beyond the Comfort Zone: Packing a Punch with Dynamic Deliverables and Behavioural Science, which won the EphMRA Excellence in Research Award for Influencing Strategic Direction via Engaging and Actionable Deliverables. -Katy and Yuuki Ochiai of Janssen co-presented a paper titled Information Overload: How Our Biases Get the Better of Us and How to Be Better Understood, exploring four psychological biases that can hinder understanding and three practical tactics for more effective communication. Networking and Knowledge Sharing in Basel Alongside the conference sessions, the team enjoyed opportunities to network and strengthen relationships with clients and industry colleagues. Highlights included hosting a dinner at Kraft Basel on the banks of the Rhine and attending the EphMRA evening event at the Elisabeth Open Church, where guests enjoyed live music, entertainment, and close-up magic. The EphMRA Conference was an inspiring opportunity to celebrate achievements, share thought leadership, and connect with others across the healthcare market research community. We wish all attendees safe travels home and look forward to meeting again at future EphMRA events.
